On Sunday, Koh Samui Airport in Surat Thani province,Thailand, welcomed its first flight from Chengdu, China in over three years.

Chengdu Airlines flight EU2807 arrived with 130 Chinesetourists on board. The airport organized a special welcome ceremony, includingspraying water over the plane in an arch shape using fire engines, inaccordance with international standards.

Officials attending the event, including local authoritiesand tourism representatives, presented the tourists with garlands andsouvenirs. This marked the resumption of Chengdu Airlines' service to Koh Samuiafter it was suspended in February 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The routewill be serviced by an Airbus A319 once a week on Sundays, with a capacity of140 passengers.
