A speedboat off the coast of Koh Samui, Thailand.

Caught fire and subsequently sank near the Bang Rak boatpier in tambon Bo Phut of Koh Samui district. The incident occurred aroundmidnight and was promptly responded to by the emergency response team. Thespeedboat, named the Silver Star and operated by the tour boat company SiamExperience, was completely engulfed in flames but the fire was extinguished.However, the boat suffered significant damage and eventually sank. Fortunately,no injuries were reported.

 

The cause of the fire is currently being investigated, andauthorities are assessing the extent of the damages. It is worth noting thatthe fire did not spread to other boats moored nearby.

 

This incident is not an isolated occurrence, as there havebeen previous boat fires in Thailand. For instance, on December 11, a tour boatin Phuket caught fire while moored at a pier, causing damage but no injuries orfatalities. In another incident on April 23, a massive onboard fire destroyedand sank a luxury catamaran named the 'Jimmy Blue' at the Yacht Haven Marina inPhuket. Electrical short-circuiting was suspected as the cause of the fire.

 

Investigations into such incidents help authorities identifythe causes and take appropriate measures to ensure safety and prevent similarincidents in the future.
