Koh Samui Flights: Higher Fares, Fewer Services in 2026

Bangkok Airways raised domestic fares from 1 April 2026 and reduced some Samui flights to Phuket, Krabi and Singapore.

Flying to Koh Samui has become more expensive in 2026, and some routes have fewer flights. Bangkok Airways raised its domestic fares by 15 to 20 percent on average from 1 April 2026. The schedule site AeroRoutes then reported on 21 April 2026 that the airline had reduced several services from Samui for the summer season.

Which Samui routes were reduced

According to AeroRoutes, these changes were filed as of 19 April 2026:

  • Samui to Phuket: from 8 to 7 flights a day, from 20 April to 30 June 2026.
  • Samui to Krabi: from 2 flights a day to 1, from 2 May to 30 June 2026.
  • Samui to Singapore: from 17 to 14 flights a week, from 21 April to 24 October 2026.

A few dates inside these periods were excluded from the cuts. The airline also reduced some routes that do not touch Samui, such as Bangkok to Phuket and Bangkok to Trat.

Why fares went up

The Nation reported on 27 March 2026 that the airline's president, Puttipong Prasarttong-Osoth, linked the fare increase to the price of jet fuel. He said it had risen from 80 to 90 US dollars a barrel to 170 to 180 US dollars, and that the company's costs were up by about 20 percent. Only about 30 percent of its fuel was covered by hedging contracts. The same article notes that a special fare of 2,000 baht per seat had previously been offered on the Bangkok to Samui route.

The airline's plan for the year

TTR Weekly reported on 30 March 2026 that Bangkok Airways plans about 48,000 flights in 2026, around 2 percent fewer than in 2025. It expects to carry 4.3 million passengers and to fill 80 percent of its seats, compared with 76 percent in 2025. Its average ticket price target is 4,200 baht. Bookings for April to September were 1 percent higher than a year earlier, with the third quarter stronger than the second.

The reductions on the Phuket and Krabi routes were scheduled to end on 30 June 2026. The Singapore reduction runs until 24 October 2026. Timetables can be changed again, so the airline's own booking site is the reference.

What it means for your stay

Flights to Koh Samui are still frequent, especially from Bangkok. But with higher fares and fewer seats on some routes, late booking costs more than before. Book flights as early as you can for the high season. If you combine Samui with Phuket or Krabi, check the flight times before you fix the order of your trip. If the direct fare is too high, a flight to Surat Thani with a ferry crossing costs less and takes longer. When your flights are set, you can check villa availability for the same dates.
