Koh Samui wellness: two new launches on 1 October 2026

Kamalaya's lunar retreat and Conrad's private wellness villa both opened on Koh Samui on 1 October 2026.

Two of Koh Samui's best-known resorts launched new wellness products on the same day, 1 October 2026. Kamalaya started a retreat programme built around the phases of the moon. Conrad Koh Samui opened The Pearl, a very large private villa with its own spa. Both confirm how important wellness travel has become for the island.

Kamalaya: a retreat that follows the moon

Kamalaya, a wellness sanctuary on the south coast founded in 2005, calls its new programme Sacred Renewal. The launch coincides with the resort's 21st anniversary. According to the travel trends site Globetrender, the programme is about balance and slowing down more than fitness.

The retreat draws on classical yoga and Vedic traditions. It is organised around the waxing moon, linked with energy and clarity, and the waning moon, linked with release, detox and reflection. Guests take part in cleansing rituals, bodywork, private consultations, yoga, breathing exercises, chanting and periods of quiet.

  • Length: 8, 11 or 15 nights
  • Price: from 2,689 British pounds, without accommodation, according to Globetrender

Conrad: a private wellness villa

At Conrad Koh Samui, in Taling Ngam on the south-west coast, The Pearl is a two-level presidential villa of 766 square metres with one bedroom. It stands at the highest point of the resort and looks over the Gulf of Thailand and the Five Islands.

The press release lists a 20-metre infinity pool, a treatment suite for two with sauna and steam rooms, hot and cold plunge pools, a fitness area, a private bar, a sunken dining pavilion and an outdoor cinema. A dedicated host and private dining by a chef are part of the stay. The idea is that guests have everything in one private place and do not need to move around the resort. The price was not published. The resort has 82 pool villas in total.

A trend, not a one-off

These launches fit a pattern. In its 2025 market review, the consultancy C9 Hotelworks said the island attracts a growing number of wellness travellers who come throughout the year and stay longer than average. In 2026 the national tourism authority also made healing one of the themes of its marketing. For a destination with a marked low season, guests who travel for health and do not depend on school holidays are valuable.

What it means for your stay

You do not need a resort programme to build a wellness holiday on Koh Samui. Many visitors rent a private house and add what they want: a yoga teacher who comes in the morning, massage at home, healthy meals from a private chef and quiet days by the pool. This is flexible, and it works well for couples or groups of friends who want privacy. Both resorts in this article are on the quieter south and south-west side of the island.
